We have designed a product in response to the gap in the Irish gift market. It offers a new and different narrative compared to traditional offerings such as the Claddagh ring. The younger market has different values and tastes that Póg caters to. It’s fun, creative and modern with a twist.

How you wear your Póg is up to you: is your heart open or closed? Wearing your Póg upright will show that your heart is closed, whilst wearing it with the ‘X’ design exposed shows that your heart is open.
In an age of uncertainty and societal shifts, there is peace of mind in the fact that we are connected wherever we go. For example, according to the U.S. census, an estimated 80 million people worldwide claim Irish descent, which includes more than 36 million Americans who claim Irish as their primary ethnicity. For anyone who has travelled to the U.S., you will be very familiar with the common response of "I’m Irish!" when you say you are from Ireland. There is a sense of pride in being from a small little green isle. Having lived abroad for 15 years, this is something that inspired Melissa when designing Póg.
Now exclusively on Aer Lingus, Ireland’s most reputable airline. The Póg will be available in-flight on the 1st of August.
The Póg is made with sterling silver and comes in various colours. We have chosen red for Aer Lingus. Made with sustainable materials and packaged with absolutely 0 plastic, opting for biodegradable packaging, Póg is a statement of sentiment and care for our planet.
With Melissa’s conscious approach to her brand ethos. Melissa has developed a circular economy and fully conscious pipeline where everybody gains from production, right down to the planet. Melissa is an advocate for mental health. In order to incorporate this into her designs, for every Póg purchased, we donate €1 to Jigsaw Mental Health, a charity in Ireland focusing on the wellbeing of young people all over the country.

Background/Career:
MC was born in Sligo and had her formal education in Dublin. At 17, she packed her bags and went to Paris to pursue her dreams as a creative, first perfecting her French at the Sorbonne and later she studied Visual Communication at the Académie Charpentier. After extensive travelling in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, Melissa turned her love of colour and celebration to the finer details in life, leading her to jewellery and accessory designing. Melissa worked her way up the fast-paced fashion industry, launching her first collection in L'Eclaireur Paris in 1997. Her debut at Paris Fashion Week saw Melissa’s thought-provoking and fresh approach to design catching on.
Liberty of London picked Melissa Curry up shortly after her debut, choosing her to spearhead their Millennium Advertising campaign, catapulting her work across the globe. Her name and distinct brand immediately made an impact and became a much sought-after label, landing in global boutiques in New York, Japan, Paris (Le Bon Marche, Galeries Lafayette) and London. Melissa’s regenerative vision and powerful design brought collaborations with leading brand names such as Absolut, Swarovski, Toni & Guy and Philippe Starck @Bon, all of whom commissioned her to collaborate on one-off projects with her fresh and exciting concepts, narrative and visionary drive.
